Alkisahnya begini.
Hari Khamis lepas, hubby called tanye kalau nak buat spaggetti bolognese esok (hari Jumaat) sempat tak? Saya cakap la sempat je. Simple je kot nak buat benda tue (mati la berlagak.....). Cuma saya kata nak kena gi supermarket la petang tue sebab ada a few ingredients yang takde kat rumah. Kat opis hubby nak buat farewell untuk one of the staff. Masing-masing nak kena bawa potluck. Nie second time kot hubby suruh buat spaggetti untuk bawa ke office dia.
So malam tue iolls masaklah. Cepat je masaknya sebab bahan-bahan semua Bibik dah sediakan. Memang biasanya saya masak malam, then pagi nanti saya panaskan apa yang patut then we good to go. Kuah satu bekas dan spaggetti satu bekas.
Jumaat malam tue hubby cakaplah thanks sebab tolong masakkan spaggetti (you are welcome!!!) dan dia kata spaggetti tue sedap sampai tak cukup. Erm...dulu masa masak pun dia kata macam tue jugak. So basically kite berjaya la maintain the taste. Pujian ikhlas ke pujian bodek iolls tak kisah. Yang penting orang tak sakit perut makan spaggetti saya. Haru pulak kalau satu opis cerry berry sebab spaggetti iolls!!!!!!
The next day, pergi rumah SIL kat Bukit Mahkota. Dia baru pindah rumah. So kita pergi nak bagi support and nak tolong apa yang patut. Nak pergi macam tak sedap pulak tak bawak apa-apa so iolls pun sempatla meng'google' resepi simple chocolate cake nie. Recipe from this site.
Simple Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
175g (6oz) margarine or softened butter
175g (6oz) caster sugar
3 large eggs
150g (5oz) self-raisng flour, sifted
50g (1 3/4oz) od cocoa, sifted
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For simple chocolate icing :
100g (3 1/2oz) of dark chocolate
100g (3 1/2oz) of chopped butter
Method :
1. Heat the oven to 180 Celcius (gas mark 4). Lightly grease an 18cm (7 inches) round cake tin with a little extra butter or margarine and cut a piece of grease paper or non-stick baking parchment to fit the base of the tin.
2. Put all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and beat with a wooden spoon or a hand-held mixer for 1 minute or until just combined. It's important not to beat the batter too much - just long enough to make it smooth.
3. Pour or spoon the mixture in to the tin, smooth the top and bake on the middle shelf of the oven for about 45-50 minutes. The cake is cooked when it looks well risen and golden; the top should spring back when lightly touched with a fingertip.
4. Let the cake sit in the tin for 5 minutes, then gently run a knife around the edge and turn the cake out onto a wire rack to cool.
5. For the icing, place the dark chocolate and chopped butter in a heatproof bowl and set over a saucepan of very hot water until melted/ Cool for 15 minutes, the spread over the top of the cooled cake.
My advise : Just forget the hassle, use your microwave for the same outcome...;p
MIL pun ada kat Bukit Mahkota. She did bring some food to eat for lunch : Ayam Percik from Ayamas and Nasi Beryani from Bangladesh (her friend brought it from Bangladesh). So we ate that for lunch and ate the choc cake for dessert. MIL approved the cake. Dia kata sedap : tak terlalu manis.
Yeay...mari kita buat sujud syukur sebab berjaya impressed mak mertua dengan choc cake yang simple itu. Huahuahua....Gila punya menantu. Buat cake simple pun nak gembira sangat mengalahkan masak nasi beryani. But uolls, harusla iolss gembira sebab MIL punya taste boleh tahan gak. Kalau dapat makanan yang tak sedap, she said it out loud ok. Basically kalau dia tak cakap apa pun pasal cake tu iolls dah syukur sangat. Tapi bila dia puji haruslah kita bergumbira!!!!!
Tapi lepas tue hubby pulak buka citer pasal saya masak spaggetti untuk opis dia. MIL tanya mana spaggettinya sebab dia nak rasa. Huh....memang terkantoi di situ. Saya memang tak pernah la bagi MIL rasa spaggetti yang masak sebab MIL terer ok masak spaggetti especially bolognese la. Terbaik dari ladang spaggetti dia. Rasa memang tak layak la spaggetti iolls nak bagi dia rasa.
Dan-dan kena ceramah sikit...hehehe. MIL kata lain kali bagi dia rasa dulu. Bila dah approve bolehlah buat lagi.

Terus the next day, saya masak spaggetti carbonara bawa gi rumah KL. Tapi tengah hari tue tak sempat rasa sebab we all had lunch dekat Alexis Great Eastern. So yang tue iolls tak tahu apa komen MIL lagi. Bersiap sedia untuk mendengar komen juri.
